December 2006

Wow, December has just flown past and Christmas is fast approaching. During December and January we will be open every day for lunch and Wednesday to Sunday for dinner. During the holiday season, we can get very busy, so it is best if you ring ahead to book your table to avoid disappointment.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry and safe Christmas! We thank you for your loyalty during the year and hope we can continue to provide you and your family and friends with fine food, great wine and fun times in 2007.

The new Summer menus are in full swing and now available on our website.

Chef's Table Dinners

Our Chef's Table dinners were both a success, and George is now preparing something special(and different for Rustic) for February 2nd 2007. An Indian night will be held as our "farewell" to our recently qualified Chef Dean, who will be heading off overseas in 2007.
George and Dean are working on some spectacular dishes, and in particular some curry dishes

Cellar Door News

Unfortunately we are temporarily out of Sauvignon Blanc while we eagerly await the release of the 2006 Sauvignon Blanc in February 2007. Our Sauvignon Blanc (both 2004 and 2005) has been very popular and exceptionally good quality wines. We feel that 2006 should stand up to previous years. Also now available is the 2006 Rose which is made from Merlot grapes.

The new year will see some new varieties coming through: Merlot and Shiraz. Keep an eye on future newsletters for release dates.

The Sparkling Pinot Chardonnay has also been well received... while not available for tasting, you can purchase it by the glass and enjoy with a Yarra Valley Platter while you sit out on the verandah during the festive season!

January Cellar Door Special: Pinot Gris $150 per dozen

New Year's Eve Dinner

"Richie and the Royals"
Back by popular demand! The Rock'n'Roll band will be playing form 8.00pm through to the new year! Get your table together and book now for what is always a good fun night. $85 per person includes three course dinner, beer, wine and soft drinks.

New Staff

In November we have welcomed some new faces to the Front of House team.
We welcome two Hospitality Trainees: Shai Minfiie and Ashleigh Kennedy, who will be with us completing their Certificate 3 in Hospitality operations for the next year. Behind the bar, Liam is mixing up a storm with some fantastic cocktails this festive season. He also has a passion for wine which he is keen to develop, and where better than in the Yarra Valley at Wild Cattle Creek

Our apprentice Dean Meagher has now qualified and we congratulate him on his commitment to his work. Dean began with us when he was just 16, so we are very proud to see him complete his qualifications. Unfortunately the world beckons and he will be leaving us in early 2007 as he embarks on a new adventure overseas with his Chef qualifications!

We also congratulate Stephanie, our Restaurant Manager, on her recent wedding to Marcus Cooksey.
